Straight From the Go is a Chicago originated t-shirt company created by high school senior, Raven Smith. Raven was looking to get rid of the use of the word “chiraq”, along with the violent and negative associations with Chicago. In order to do this, she created the phrase “Straight from the Go” in order to show that Chicago has much more positivity within it than some may believe. With her idea and passion, she went on to create a line of t-shirts that swept the nation by storm. Her mother, Eraina Smith, says she is “proud and amazed at the positive response the t-shirts have gotten.” Raven’s story shows that with hard work and ambition, change can truly be made.
